Bookshelf Personality

Posted under cooking, islamic books, quran by Radiant Light

Assalamualaykum

I picked up this tag from Br Faraz of: irrelevantopinions

Sharing bookshelfs and see how they reflect our personality … hmm … here goes

This Is my hidayah collection … one of my fav’s due to constantly needing to look up fiqh questions with dalaail and the opinions of all 4 schools.

Next to that is my Seerat Mustafa in urdu (seerah of the Prophet SAW) and Al-Ikhtiyaar another fiqh book, and qudoori sharah.

My much loved Tafseer Ibn Kathir … Theres a funny story of how I got those … next to it are my hayaatus sahabah (Lives of the companions of the Prophet sallahu alayhi wassalam)
And lying on top are the Dars Tirmidhi by mufti Taqi uthmani, Tirmidhi in fiqh detail (are we seeing a pattern?)

Oh where would I be without these! My beloved Al Mawrid dictionaries that have served me oh so well in translating and saving face :D

Sealed nectar needs no intro and same with Ibn Kathirs Life of Muhammad (saw)

You cant really see any of these cos they’re conserving space … I need a library not a bookshelf! Left to right:

Aqeedah tahawiyyah by Hamza Yusuf on top
Riyadhus Saliheen
Some misc fiqh books
Gift for a muslim bride

moving on to the right: Mutarjam (translation) of Abu Dawood
My beloved Jalalayn Sharhs (Quran tafseer)

Looking right at the top on the shelf I have no full pic of is My Ma’ariful Quran by Imam Khandalwi (rh), next to it are my mutarjm of Bukhari.

bottom shelf has my urdu Ma’riful Quran by Mufti Shafi saheb (RH) and one english volume, then the Duroosul Lugaat series.
Then My mishkat Sharahs (theres usually 5 but 2 were in use in various parts of the house!) <3

My English Ma’riful Quraans, I love these Alhumdulillah!

And finally … My lost love Cooking and Baking … Make dua my mummy’s ban on my baking is lifted soon, how dearly I miss it!!

Well those are my day to day books I use :D

WaAlaykumAssalam

  1. Hafsa Said,

That is definately a library!!! Masha Allah (SWT)… i um…not so secretly envy you..

I’ve heard of Al-Mawrid. I just bought an arabic dictionary Hans Wer (What’s your opinion of Hans Wehr?).

“Gift for a muslim bride” is good? Who’s author? I might need it soon ;) [prolly in December]

My teacher Sh Sohail of SunniPath mentioned Jalalayn Sharhs (Quran tafseer). I’d love to be able to read it some day, Insha Allah (SWT)

  2. Radiant Light Said,

    Assalamualaykum

Ive never seen hans wher, I’ve always used Al-Mawrid.

Gift for a muslim bride is really good ALhumdulillah the urdu ones better than english though,im not even married but I read it for when I taught marriage in Islam class … hehe

The author i’m not sure I’ll check it out for you insha’Allah (SWT). Let me know closer to the time and I can send you a copy insha’Allah (SWT).

Insha’Allah (SWT) if Allah (SWT) accepts my future plans from me, I will be in Canada and I will take all my books, then you can come take as many as you wish to read insha’Allah (SWT) :D

Duas requested. I emailed you Sr Hafsa, on the one you left here.

    Ma’assalam

  3. LondonMuslim Said,

MashaAllah!! That’s really incredible! My dad’s got the same Tafsir- we bought it in Sri Lanka and bringing them back they needed their own suitcase with the odd t-shirt for padding =P

  4. Radiant Light Said,

    Salaam

    Sorry about your comments Bilal.
Which set? There are about 3 diff ones. lol

    Ma’assalam

  5. Raheemah Said,

    Salaam,
thanx for stumbling upon my humble site. I sooo envy your collection on tafsir. Although, I am more into reading stories about Islam and all but only recently that I began to take the fond of reading tafsir, hadiths and sunnahs. My arabic is reaally really really minimal so I had to get either English or Malay ( my mother tongue language).

Btw I don’t mean to trouble you. How did u get ur Blogroll up and about coz I have been trying to figure it out and I didn’t have it up and about in my blog page. I added the links that I wanted to appear on my blogroll but nothing is happening i.e. it doesn’t show in the page. Jazakallah for your patient and help.

  6. Suleiman Said,

Raheemah, after you have added links to your Blogroll, you need to go to Presentation –> Sidebar Widgets in your Blog Admin panel and move the “Links” widget onto your Sidebar.

If you have any future problems with your Hadithuna blog, you can click on the Forums link next to Blog Jump, which appears after you have logged into your Hadithuna blog. Or you can navigate to http://www.hadithuna.com/forums/.

  7. Radiant Light Said,

    Assalmualaykum Raheemanh

JazakumAllah khair for your comments, I’m going to be teaching some class’s on pal talk on tafseer if you wish to learn insha’Allah (SWT).

Take Br suleiman’s advice on the blogroll insha’Allah (SWT) it will work :)

Look forward to reading more from you insha’Allah (SWT).

    Ma’assalam

  9. Radiant Light Said,

    Assalamualaykum

Paradise 1 … I’ve put a link for the English Ma’riful Quran under the more seeds on the right if you look.

Would I recommend it? umm … YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

    Ma’assalam

  10. Raheemah Said,

    Salaam,

Jazakallah Br. Sulaiman for telling me that. I am abit blonde when it comes to internet or technology stuff. Usually I would bug my husband on this matter but he said that I should just try to be abit handsy on these stuff hehe and which to no avail I gave up on hehe. But thank you so much. Only Allah (SWT) knows how to repay your deeds.

    Salaam sister Radiant light,

I would definitely love to come to your tafsir class but I think the problem would begin geographically. I live in the Eastern part of the world in a small Island called Borneo in a country called Brunei. Unless you are too in Brunei then I would make the effort. :D But by reading your blog alone has taught me so much. Jazakallah for offering your Ilm.

  11. Radiant Light Said,

    Assalamualaykum Raheemah

I’m flexible, you can schedule class’s with me when the time is convinient for you. InshaAllah I should be available, its a matter for finding a right time and keeping up with it inshaAllah.

    Alhumdulillah :)

    So please email me: seedsofrealisation@googlemail.com

    Then we’ll discuss more inshaAllah

    Ma’assalam
    Dua’s Requested
